AbraSey Bising
Is a performative installation that explores the voices of ancestors through vibrations and rhythm. This was shown at Stedelijk's retrospective exhibition on Curaçaoan filmmaker Felix de Rooy.
In this performative installation the darkness envokes to sense without sight to emphasize the vibrations and rhythms.
The body movements of the performer are translated by sensors on the hip and head, which modulate the swing and movement of 4 pulses. The data from the sensors are processed, resulting in a dynamically complex composition with polyrhythms that induce a trance-like state. By using movement as a portal, this project enables everyone with a mixed-race identity to develop a profound connection with their complex heritage by moving to the sounds.
